NZ rural delivery (RD) address checker
Paste an address to see whether it's written as a rural delivery address ("RD 2", "R.D. 2", "Rural Delivery 2"). You can also check a postcode against your own courier's rural list.
Why there's no built-in postcode list
New Zealand rural delivery and mailtown data come from NZ Post's Postal Address File. It's a paid licence, and its terms don't allow the data to be redistributed. So this tool only reads what the customer typed (the RD number, which is part of NZ Post's addressing standard), plus your own postcode list, for example from your courier's rural surcharge list.
Limits: customers who leave out the RD number won't be detected, and an unusual road name like "RD Road 5" could give a false match.
Kiwi Rural Rates is a Shopify app we're building that shows a rural rate only to rural delivery addresses, using RD numbers and your own postcode list. It is not on the Shopify App Store yet (it hasn't been released).
Addressing format: NZ Post addressing standards.
