How to set out a dog grooming price list by size
Grooming time depends mostly on the dog's size and coat, so price lists that follow those two things are easier to understand and easier to stick to.
Example layout
| Service | Small | Medium | Large | Giant |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bath & tidy | from $A | from $B | from $C | from $D |
| Full groom | from $E | from $F | from $G | from $H |
Letters are placeholders: base your prices on your own time per size, costs and local market. Give a weight range or example breeds for each size so owners can place their dog.
Coat type
Double-coated and curly or doodle coats usually take longer than short smooth coats. Either add a coat column or a clear "coat surcharge" line, so the price doesn't feel like a surprise.
Add-ons to list separately
- Nail trim or grind
- Teeth brushing
- De-shedding treatment
- Flea bath
- Dematting (per 15 minutes is a common, transparent way to charge)
Explain when prices change
Say it plainly: "Final price depends on coat condition and how your dog copes. We'll tell you before we start if it'll cost more." That one line prevents most disputes.
Do the maths
The free grooming price calculator sets a groom price from dog size, coat type, matting and your target hourly rate.
