Tradie quote request form: what to ask
A good form gets you enough to decide whether to visit, without being so long that people give up.
Must-have fields
- Name, phone and email
- Job address or suburb (to check you cover it)
- Type of job (a short drop-down: new build, renovation, repair, maintenance, other)
- Description: "What do you need done?"
- Photo upload: two or three photos often tell you more than a paragraph
Useful optional fields
- Rough timing (ASAP, within 3 months, just planning)
- Budget range: optional, but it helps you prioritise
- Best time to call
- Whether plans or consent documents exist
What not to ask
- Date of birth or other personal details you don't need.
- Payment details. Never collect these on an enquiry form.
- Long text boxes for every room. Ask for photos instead.
Add one sentence about privacy: what you collect, why and who sees it (the NZ Privacy Act 2020 applies).
After the form
Show a thank-you message that says when you'll reply ("within 1 working day"). A fast reply wins more jobs than a perfect form.
