Tradie website checklist
Most people find a tradie on their phone and decide in a minute. Make it obvious what you do, where you work and how to get a quote.
Services and service area
- One line per service: decks, renovations, bathrooms, re-roofing, maintenance.
- The suburbs or towns you cover. A simple "Do we cover your area?" postcode or suburb check saves time for both sides.
- Jobs you don't take on, so you get fewer poor-fit enquiries.
Project photos
Your own recent work, with a sentence on the job ("Hardwood deck, 30 m², Hamilton East"). Before-and-after shots work well. Ask clients before showing their homes.
Licences and memberships you actually hold
In New Zealand, if you're a Licensed Building Practitioner, a registered electrician or a registered plumber, gasfitter or drainlayer, show your licence or registration number so people can check it on the public register. Only list memberships and guarantees you really have.
For residential building work of $30,000 or more (including GST), NZ builders must give clients a disclosure statement and checklist before the contract is signed. See building.govt.nz for the current rules.
A quote form that gets useful details
See what to ask on a quote request form. Photo upload is the biggest time saver.
Mobile and local basics
- A tap-to-call phone number at the top of every page.
- Business name, area and phone the same everywhere, including your Google Business Profile.
- Fast pages: plain HTML with compressed images works well on patchy mobile coverage.
Pricing
Even rough guides ("most decks we build are between $X and $Y") help people self-qualify. The free tradie quote calculator works out a quote from labour hours, your hourly rate, materials markup, call-out fee and contingency, with NZ GST.
